In October, the GlaciersAlive association was able to work on a project together with a group of motivated helpers: the construction of an Ice Stupa. These ice stupas are not only eye-catching, but also an example of innovative water management in regions that depend on glacier water.
The day began with shovels, ladders, wood and a lot of enthusiasm to build the basic framework for the Ice Stupa. The pictures taken during the construction process show every step - from the procurement of materials to the installation of the pipes and the wooden base frame.
The basic structure has been in place since the end of October, and thanks to the colder temperatures, the Ice Stupa has grown in size in a short space of time. Below left you can see what the Ice Stupa looked like in November and below right what the Ice Stupa looks like now in December.
